The airbrush is used now for various purposes. There are various types of airbrush. Please choose your airbrush depending on your personality, considering preference of feeling of operation and purpose of use.
Selection of nozzle diameter size
The airbrush of German H&S; Focus, Evolution, Colani, and HANSA can change the nozzle diameter size on one airbrush. Most other airbrushes can not change nozzle diameter size. To select nozzle diameter size, at first adjust it to the material of the paint which is used. If a sticky heavy paint or coarse paint with particles are sprayed from a small nozzle diameter, paint will be got blocked in the nozzle. It is a common cause of trouble with the airbrush. If it is sticky like milk, it will be suitable for general airbrush paint. The size of nozzle diameter is properly used depending on the size of what you want to draw. It is most important to maintain after use whatever kind of paint you used. With understanding the characteristics of the paints which you use, you must prevent paints from solidifying in the airbrush. It is important to wash the paints completely out of the airbrush.
Never leave the airbrush dipped in the organic solvents, such as thinner. It causes failure of airbrush.

Features of paints
Color ink
Color ink can be used for an airbrush in the state as it is. Color development and blending is beautiful, but it can be watery and irregulari when you blow it in large quantities.
Water color
There are a transparent color and an opaque color in watercolors. The transparent colors of watercolors are the easiest to treat.Painting transparent color repeatedly has an effect of making the best use of the groundwork, the soft feeling increases.An opaque color has the effect of concealing the color under that. It is suitable for photograph correction and animation etc.
Acrylic paints
It becomes water-proof after it dries though the acrylic color is paints of the water solubility. Since acrylic paints have fixing power, you can use them for airbrush paint at large in general.
Acrylic gouache
Acrylics gouaches are the water-soluble paints of the opaque color which use the acrylic resin. That does not dissolve in the water when it dries. The surface of that paint does not glitter and can make the work easy to see.
Acrylic enamel
The typical paint is the Metal Craft Paint in the acrylic enamel. Enamel materials are included in the paint, and you can paint all things. Until now, only the urethane paint can make sprayed, but the water Metal Craft Paint can make it possible. You can thin it with water.
Oil paint
If you dilute oil paints by dissolving oil, you can use them with airbrush.

Cautions
Spraying changes according to the air pressure power and the amounts of air of a compressor.
Thinner and the paint of an urethane series are diluted by what suites these solvents.
But when there is much operating frequency, these paints may make the rubber packing of an airbrush corrode.Sufficient cautions are required.
Mineral colors are suitable for the airbrush with a sucking type cup.Gravity cup is easy to get blocked.Please change diameter size according to the number of the color of paints.

Plastic fabrication type
The type mixing air with paint outside of the airbrush before spraying. Atomized particle is coarse, but it turns to express a monotonous pattern. In addition, it is suitable for expensive paint of the density such as acrylic, vanish and thinner. It is used a lot for plastic model users.

Single action
You can jet only air by pushing a push button. Jet of paint adjusts a paint adjustment screw on the airbrush. Because paint may jet out suddenly with regard to the position of adjustment screw, you need to try jetting beforehand. You may feel trouble for adjustment, but it is worth it when you want to fix the quantity of paints.

Double action
Push the push button, take out air, pull it toward while pushing button to adjust quantity of paint and spray it. Slight regulation of paint is easy. Because a delicate touch is possible, this is suitable for the real paint and making fantastic works. Many airbrush users use a double action type in various fields. In addition, this can spray fixed quantity paint as same as a single action type if this type uses a needle adjuster.

Trigger
It is not necessary to push a button like a double action and, just pulling trigger, it is possible to jet both air and paint. Only air begins to appear when you pull some trigger, and paint begins to appear when you pull it more. Hansa black series may looks like a double action, but it is a new trigger-style double action. The trigger-style characteristic is ease of use.

The kind of cup

A gravity type cup with a top
Gravity type cup has a removable type and a fixed type. The fixed type is fixed to the upper part of airbrush by welding, so can not change cup size. The removable type can change to favorite cup sizes and is easy to clean. The size of a paints cup is proportional to nozzle diameter size. For example, with the airbrush of 0.2mm nozzle diameter, the cup size of 1 cc or 2 cc is fixed by setup of not injecting a lot of paint at once.In addition, it is a standard that 5 to 10 cc is set in the nozzle diameter class of 0.3mm, and it is a standard that 5 cc or 15 cc are set with the nozzle diameter of 0.4mm.

Side cup type
Side cup is fixed and attached in the side part of an airbrush with a screw. Removal of a paints cup is possible.The feature of a side cup is to change direction of a cup and to be able to prevent from falling a paint. There is the diaphragm type which sends out air by compression movement of the diaphragm which is made of rubber and a piston type which compresses and sends out air by the powerful piston action. Sounds and vibrations depend upon the manufacturers or models. The mini compressor for airbrushes is comparatively quiet. In case of the mini compressor used for airbrush, air pressure is set about 0.1 Mpa to 0.3Mpa (a nozzle diameter is from 0.2mm to 0.6mm). The air pressure for airbrush are recommended about 0.2 to 0.3 Mpa. The highest is up to 0.4Mpa. Also the amount of discharge air from a compressor is related. In case of the mini compressor, it is set about 25 from about 5 per minute. The air pressure of a compressor can be decompressed by air regulator. It is necessary to choose according to the quality of the material of the paint and the nozzle diameter size of airbrush.

Difference between compressor with air tank and one with no tank
In case of the compressor with no air tank, vibration and influence of wave motion of a piston to turn of a motor delicately bring influence for airbrush spraying. Delicate line blowing may break off. Air tank saves air from a compressor and sends stable air to the airbrush after removing the strength and weakness.
The feature of comressor with an air tank is an automatic switch type. Therefore, when the air in the air tank reaches fixed pressure, a motor will stop automatically. If the air in the tank decreases, a motor will begin to move automatically.Therefore, the troublesome work like turning a power supply can be saved, and it is convenient. Some products don't have an automatic switch even if the air tank is attached.

Auto switch type
There is a type of automatic switch in a compressor with no air tank the APC-001 compressor of Airtex. The compressor does not move even if you turn on unless you move a trigger and push the button of the airbrush. It begins to work at the moment when the airbrush takes out air, and it stops when you stop to airbrush. Unlike a non-stop compressor, there is the superior function that is not troubled by motor sound or vibration.
